Audrey Ann Daigle Daboval passed away peacefully on October 2, 2023. She was born August 28, 1937, in Thornwell, Louisiana, lived most of her life in Welsh, Louisiana, and enjoyed her residency in the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home with the extraordinary loving care provided by the staff during her final years.
Audrey graduated from Welsh High School and was a proud alumna of McNeese State University where she earned her degree in education. She taught elementary students in Jeff Davis Parish for 25 years. She was active in the national Delta Kappa Gamma Honor Society and the Jeff Davis Parish Retired Teachers Association. Audrey’s life experiences included work as a beautician, phone operator, and bank teller. She was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Welsh and active in several organizations such as the Catholic Daughters.
Audrey was married to the love of her life, Dr. Pierre Daboval, for 53 years. She worked as an administrative assistant at Tulane University while Pierre earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in New Orleans. She was blessed to experience fun and laughter from the various activities she did throughout her life with family and friends. She enjoyed time spent fishing and camping on the Lacassine bayou, hunting deer in Texas, snow skiing in Colorado, strolling various beaches in Louisiana and Florida, cruising the seas, traveling domestically and abroad, and following the McNeese State University Cowboys at home and on the road. She was ever ready to try fun new things such as painting, ceramics, crocheting, and much more.
Audrey is predeceased by her parents Alia and Clyde Daigle, her stepfather Pete Graves, her husband Pierre Daboval, brothers Alvin Daigle and Harold Daigle, brothers-in-law Joseph B. Broussard, Rene Daboval, and sisters-in-law Arlene Daboval and Peggy Daigle
Left to cherish her memories are her sisters Jeannete Broussard and Sherrion Sonnier [Champ], sisters-in-law, Marlene Daigle [Alvin], Jeanne Daboval, and Brother-in-law Al Daboval, Jr. [Bernadine] along with 11 nieces and nephews and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
The family will welcome the public for visitation will at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh Monday, October 9, 2023 from 5 pm until 9 pm with a rosary at 6:30 pm. Visitation will resume at Hixson Funeral Home Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 9 am with a mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church beginning at 10 am. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery.
