On April 24, 2012, We lost a great son, nephew and friend . A direct descendant of Cotton Mather, His life cut short after many years of pain and suffering. Sam a true Cape Codder , born August 31, 1974 in Eastham and sadly dying in Eastham. As a boy running barefoot in the sand, building castles or collecting shells he always had an impish grin on his face. That smile touched neighbors and strangers alike. Graduating from Cape Tech in 1993 as an Auto Parts Technician, he held several jobs in his field. He also became manager of Strawberry Records and later a valued employee of Quality Plus Painting until his illness. Sam had a life-long love of comic books, movies, and music memorabilia, attended live concerts and travelled all over New England , frequently with his great friend Kerry.
He was known to drop whatever he was doing to help out and give rides to family, friends and friend's family in need. Sam showed consideration with his well thought out presents and cards that were legendary for being right on. Even during the darkest of his fight with sickness, Sam always thought of others first. The man was an original one-of-a-kind!
Sam is sadly predeceased by his Father Richard Wheeler in 1999 and survived by his mom, Gatria Mather Wheeler of Eastham, His aunts Patricia Mather Morrell of Eastham and Deborah Mather Stoudenmire of Charlotte, NC. His great uncle Robert Linnell Tonkin of New Hartford, CT, lots of cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.
So long Sam. The hole in our hearts may never be filled, but our hearts overflow with love. ROCK ON!! There will be a memorial service on May 20th at First Encounter Beach , 1:00 p.m. with a thing afterwards. Donations can be made in Sam's name to the National M.S. Society.
