Jean, the daughter of Edward and Catherine (King) Bogolawski, was born in Weymouth on April 8, 1940. She grew up in Provincetown and Truro. Jean married the love of her life, the late Kenneth L. Rose of Wellfleet on October 8, 1960; the couple was married 38 years.
Jean graduated from Provincetown High School in 1958 and Mansfield Beauty Academy in 1959. She worked at Dora’s Beauty Shop on Briar Lane in Wellfleet for many years. However, her most important job was as mother of her children: Janet Rose, the late Brian Rose, the late Karen Waters, Ken Rose and his partner Jon Krongard, and Kevin Rose and his partner Lynn Mulkeen.
Jean talked often of her time spent on Ballston Beach and Mayo Beach. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to Las Vegas and other destinations, along with their constant traveling companions, the late Richard and Lois Rose. While she dabbled in ceramics, she also enjoyed doing aerobics, gardening, watching her grandchildren play sports, chatting with her dear friend, Judy Rhodes, and listening to Alan Jackson. In more recent years, she could be found most mornings hanging out with the gang at Dunkin’ Donuts.
Her biggest disappointment is that Tom Brady never showed up at her front door for dinner. Apparently, he was too busy on most Sundays.
Jean is predeceased by her daughter, Karen Waters; her son, Brian Rose; sisters, Kathleen Holmberg and Brenda Martinez; brothers, Joseph Bogolawski and Arthur Joseph Jr; grandson, Jason Waters; and step parents, Arthur Joseph Sr and Anne Joseph. She is survived by her grandchildren Josh Waters, Ashleigh Rose, Benjamin Rose and Camryn Rose, great grandchildren Austen and Ansel Waters along with many nieces and nephews, and hundreds of teddy bears. .
The family would like to acknowledge the friendship and kindness of our many caregivers especially Jennifer Brown of Dennis, and Janice Silva of Harwich.
An interment service will be conducted July 17 at 9:30 a.m. at Oakdale Cemetery, Wellfleet, MA.
