Wanda June Vaughan, 90, of LaPorte, Texas, was reunited on December 27, 2021, with the two loves of her life, her husband Harold, and her Lord she loves so much. She was born in Taylor, Texas, on January 14, 1931, to Allen Monroe and Maudie Edith Dismukes. She married the love of her life, Harold H. Vaughan Jr., and were married for 66 years before his passing.
She lived in Pasadena, Texas, for 34 years where she worked for Dr. Brian Preston for around 18 years. She really enjoyed working for Dr. Preston where she was the office manager as well as her nursing duties. During this time, she was very active in the Eastminster Presbyterian Church youth program in Pasadena, Texas. Over their years in Pasadena, they spent a lot of time Square Dancing and was active in the Wheel Blazers Square Dance group. They traveled with this group of wheelchair square dancers to give them assistance during their trips. After Harold’s retirement, Harold and Wanda moved to Livingston, Texas, where they lived for 29 years. She helped Harold with the garden, loved to cook and was very active in the Goodrich Methodist Church. During the past 20 plus years, Wanda has fought a long hard battled against CLL leukemia, which has bounced in and out of remission during that fight. In response to Harold’s declining health, they moved to LaPorte, Texas, to be closer to family and medical facilities. They joined the United Methodist Church of LaPorte and was only able to be regular attending members up to the time of Harold’s death. With her failing health, she was not able to attend church like she would have liked and was always longing to feel better so she could return to regular church attendance. Wanda was a strong prayer warrior that would spend hours during the day and evening, lifting family and friends up in prayer and she had a servant’s heart, with a desire to help those in need.
