Sharon Lucille Nelson

Sharon Lucille Anderson Nelson, 84 of League City, TX, passed away Wednesday May 17, 2023 at 3:50 PM.

She was born in Long Beach, California on January 26. 1939 to Rasmus George Anderson and Nellie Lucille Mauzy. She was married to Kenneth Nelson for 35 years. Sharon was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Sharon had an innate capacity for vast knowledge ranging in topics from philosophy and poetry to history, space, science and genealogy. Sharon had a successful career in administration for several NASA contractors, Aerojet Rocketdyne, banks, and medical companies. Along with her incredible intellect, Sharon was also blessed with immense artistic ability. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and embroidery. Sharon poured hours of love into her creative projects and delighted in making personalized gifts for her loved ones as well. Sharon also found joy in reading various genres of books and tending to her many plants.

Sharon had an adventurous spirit and often travelled through Texas, Northern Idaho, Salt Lake City, and even to Hawaii.

She resided in California, then New York, and found her true home in League City, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rasmus George Anderson and Nellie Lucille Mauzy; sons Robert Lee and Kevin Lee; sister Loye Banks.

She is survived by Husband Kenneth Nelson; sister Iova Corcovelos-Lewis; daughters, Michelle West and Anna Dellinger, son-in-law Robert Dellinger, daughter-in-law Rashida Lee, son Steven Lee; grandsons Michael, Jeremy, Scott, Christopher and Cameron Lee, Hunter Ruhl, Ryan West, Robbie Dellinger; granddaughters Haylie Ruhl and Madelyn West and her great-grandsons Adrian and Christoph Lee.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made in Sharon's memory to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
