journey here began on December 11, 1922 in Dillard, Oklahoma. She was the
second daughter born to Hugh Otis and Alberta Butler. As a child, she moved to
Texas, where she lived the remainder of her days.
Merle married George W. Horton on February 28, 1947. They were married just
short of 65 years. George and Merle had two children, four grandchildren and
four great grandchildren. Her life was filled with caring for them all -
memories of "Momma" and "GranGran" are plentiful.
Merle remained active until just a few years before her death. She loved being
a member of the Church of Christ. She also greatly enjoyed the trips she and
George took - most especially those to Branson.
Preceeding Merle in death is her sister, Lorraine Tilley. Surviving her are
husband, George; daughter Pamela Coan; son Todd Horton and wife, Cynthia;
Granddaughter Melissa Coan Anderson and husband, Major Joshua Anderson;
Grandsons Keith Coan and wife, Lindsey, Eric Horton, and Cory Horton. Also
surviving her are great grandchildren Amber, Austin, Jaxon, and Aero.
