She was born in Houston on January 10, 1932 to William T. (Bill) and Dorothy Lee Magee.
She was an outstanding elementary school teacher at Rucker, Cornelius, and James H. Law elementary schools earning Teacher of the Year. She retired in 1989 to be able to spend more time with her family and go to the beach.
She will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, gigantic heart and especially as a loving mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Dorothy Magee, husband, Patrick L. Johnson, ex-husband Robert H. Poer.
She is survived by sister, Ruby Lee Boren, daughter, Melanie McNamara, husband Kevin, stepdaughter, Jennifer Alonzo, husband Martin, grandchildren, John L. Smith lll, Christie Smith, PK Silgero, Page Alonzo and eight wonderful great-grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by all.
A visitation for Mary will be held Monday, June 10, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598. A celebration of life service will occur Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598. A committal service will occur Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
Serving as pallbearers are Kevin McNamara , John L. Smith III, Gregory Boren, Jeffrey Boren, Daniel Delgado and Jerry Hibbler.
