David K Gill, 61, of Shoreacres, Texas, passed away December 25, 2016. He was born in Burlington, Iowa on September 1, 1955 to Mary Ann Gill and Kenneth Gill. He was married to Melodie Gill for 12 years. David had a career in Fire Services that spanned over 33 years. He worked for North East Fire Rescue for 24 years. David retired from the League City Fire Department as a Senior Fire Inspector after 20 years. He was currently working at the University of Houston Fire Marshall Office, as Deputy Fire Marshall. He had a passion for cruises, fire services, family, friends, his country and his beagle Vera.
David is survived by wife, Melodie Gill; step-daughters, Melinda Penny and husband Jimmie of Spring, Texas, Monica Knehr and husband Chris of Tomball, Texas; parents, Kenneth Leroy Gill and Mary Ann Gill of Rockton, Illinois; sisters, Cynthia King and husband Steve of McHenry, Illinois, Diane Day and husband Mike of Paletine, Illinois, Marilee Dooman and husband Ron of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Lisa Grubbs and husband Russ of Hayward, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces; brother-in- law, Jim Young and wife Linda of Pasadena, Texas; sisters-in law, Brenda Griffith and husband George of Pasadena, Texas, Terri O’Shea of Shoreacres, Texas; grandchildren, Katie Shuler, Gwendolyn Penny, Devin Penny, Tamra Knehr, Madyson Knehr, Victory Knehr;
Serving as pallbearers are Mike DuBois, John Rodriguez, Dusty Hurtt, Jim Rodgers, Jesse Marroquin, Chris Knehr. Honorary pallbearers, Jeffrey Gentilello and Jimmie Penny.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 31, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX 77598. Funeral services to follow at 3:00 p.m. David will be laid to rest in the Forest Park Cemetery.
