Hope the family checks back in.  Can't tell you what made me think today of Principal Knight and was sorry to hear  he passed.  In 1968 I was a Sophomore at WGHS.  I was in a dispute with one of the vice-principals.  Principal Knight agreed to hear my side of the story.  He was patient,  understanding and fair.  I have always remembered him fondly for letting me sit opposite him in his office and hear me out~I went on to be an attorney.  He was a gem.

Love to all of you.  Jerry touched so many people, but the love he had for his family was the most powerful.  He will be missed but never forgotten.

I have worked closely with and known Jerry well for nearly half a century.   I suspect that everyone who knew him would give him honors for diligence and hard work, as I always have.   Webster Groves School District, and particularly the High School, were always his top priority, no matter how demanding the issue or how long it took, or when it occurred.  Jerry never missed a school event unless it was in direct conflict with another. During his long tenure with the District he may have touched more people than any other district employee ever has.  He was an exceptionally strong person, a formidable individual, whether partner or adversary.   He exuded a commanding presence.  He enjoyed tackling longstanding knotty issues which seemed to defy solution, and he usually succeeded in resolving them.   

His roles as principal and central office administrator are obvious to all who knew him.  One major and lasting contribution, however, which few people would know about, was his conducting several tax and bond issue elections.  Although this responsibility was not his by virtue of his position, he voluntarily developed a methodical and thorough strategy for conducting the elections, assumed leadership  for executing the campaigns, and left nothing to chance.   The results were successful outcomes which enabled the district to maintain the standing which it has long enjoyed. 

It's sad and sobering to see people of Jerry's stature pass into history.

Sally and family I am so sorry to hear of Jerry's death.  He gave me my first job in Webster way back in 1981.  It was a privilege to know him.

To Mr. Knight's family - very sorry to learn of his passing.  My deepest sympathy.

I will not forget the positive influence of Jerry Knight over me as a teenager in his Sunday School class. He was able to hold the attention of a group of otherwise rowdy boys and impart to us a desire to learn and openly discuss. If I've learned anything practical at all about dealing with young people, I learned it from him. God bless all the family, and may fond memories carry you through this season.

To the Knight family, I am so sorry for your loss.  Sally, hang in there, I sure appreciate everything you did for me in the past.

He lived his life with integrity, and treated everyone as if they were the most important person around.  We were lucky to have him serve in the WG District for as long as he did.  What a gem of a guy.

Dr. Knight was an imposing presence but a kindly man whom I remember with fondness as a graduate of Webster Groves High School.
