Stuart Earle Scruggs

Waynesville-Stuart Earle Scruggs, 78, died on Friday, April 6, 2018, at Mission Hospital-Memorial Campus. Stuart was born in Haywood County on February 16, 1940, to the late Earle and Clara Wyatt Scruggs. The most important focus of Stuart's life was his wife and family. He and Ginger made special memories on their many visits to Charleston. Stuart was an avid reader, gardener, and animal lover, never hesitating to take in a stray. As master of the Waynesville Masonic Lodge #259, he displayed his passion for knowledge and service to others. Stuart was a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church.

Stuart is survived by his wife, Virginia Franklin Scruggs; a son Bruce Scruggs (Cindy); a daughter, Suzy Edwards (Wayne); brothers, Ronald and Martin Scruggs; a sister, Pamela Scruggs Anderson (Peter); grandchildren, Jordan Scruggs (Kevin Dean), Remington Scruggs, Jesse Mease (Jennifer); and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 11, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Greg Cullen officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with Masonic Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
