Kathy Jean (Smith) Paul

Kathy Jean Smith Paul, age 68, of Waynesville, NC passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023. She was born on July 27, 1955 in Haywood County, NC.

Kathy was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill. She was a former professor at Mars Hill College teaching Social Work. She was a devoted social worker in Western North Carolina most notably, DaVita Dialysis in Cherokee. She also had a special love for her grandchildren and family.

Left to cherish her memory is her parents, William H. and Clarine Smith; daughter, Rebecca (Benjamin) Paul; son, Ian (Jennifer) Paul; grandchildren, Breanna Paul, Haven Paul, Raigan Fisher, McKinley Fisher; brother, Thomas (Shirley) Smith; niece, Carla Smith; and a nephew Nathan Smith.

Funeral services for Kathy will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Garrett Funeral Home with Reverend Thomas Smith. The family will receive friends on Tuesday prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park.
