Evelyn Suttles Sutton

Evelyn Suttles Sutton, age 77, of the Fines Creek Community, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022. She was born on April 7, 1945 to the late Winfield and Kathryn Suttles.

Evelyn retired from Dayco in 1996 following 30 years of service, and she also served as a first responder and firefighter for the Fines Creek Volunteer Fire Department for 16 years. She attended Fines Creek Methodist church for 30 years. She was a caretaker and participated in different programs throughout the community.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Anderson C. Sutton; son, David Sutton and two grandsons, Everett and Tony.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughters, Elizabeth Ledford (Milas) and Cathy Lyerly (Mike); grandchildren, Amber Gibson, Dale Ledford, Sara Sutton; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Atleigh; three sisters, Mary Finney, Marie (Wade) Kirkpatrick, Georgia Allen; and several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jackie and Susan.

Funeral Services will be at 2 pm Monday, January 2, 2023 at (formerly) Fines Creek Methodist Church, Rev. Billy Ferguson and Rev. Jimmy Moore will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Garrett Funeral Home.

The family would like to express many thanks to the nurses and Dr. Heaberlin at the Cancer Infusion Center and Haywood Hospice and Palliative Care for all of their wonderful care.
