Thomas "Reed" Kiger, 75, of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania passed away at 5:26 PM on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at home. He was born August 2, 1948 in Kirby, PA, a son of the late Silva Roland Kiger and Lela Kent Kiger. Reed was a veteran, having served in the US Army during Vietnam. He was a proud member of the Local Legends Car Club, a member of the Waynesburg Moose Lodge, as well as a member of the VFW Post #4793 of Waynesburg. Reed loved his family, and spending time with his friends and his dog Cash. He was an avid animal lover. Reed became Franklin Township Supervisor in 1978, and served for over 43 years until his retirement in 2021. Surviving is the mother of his children: Christine Kiger of Waynesburg, PA, 3 Daughters: Amy (Jeff) Widdup of Waynesburg, PA, Reeda (Jason) Thorne of Waynesburg, PA, Melissa (Craig) Thomas of Waynesburg, PA, 7 Grandchildren: Hannah Widdup, Aliza Widdup, Kyrstan (Dylan) Higginbotham, Kullen Thorne, Cody Thorne, Jake Thomas and Elana Thomas, 2 Great-Grandchildren: Remington and Lane Higginbotham, 2 Brothers: Roy Kiger of Florida and Donald S. (Bonnie) Kiger of Waynesburg, PA and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are 2 Sisters: Roberta and Liz, 5 Brothers: Floyd, Dick, Joe, Dale and Mike Kiger. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, February 19, 2024 in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc. 197 N. Maiden St. Waynesburg, PA 15370 Shane M. Ayers, Director where services will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Lanfer Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview-Kiger Cemetery, Whiteley Twp., Greene Co., PA 15370 Graveside Military rites to be accorded by Greene County Veterans.
