Francis "Frank" E. Pazzynski

The family of Francis Edward (Frank) Pazzynski is sad to announce his passing on September 5, 2023. Frank was born on December 2, 1947, in Pittsburgh, PA to Francis Edward and Ann (Onyshko) Pazzynski.

Frank attended Oliver High School in Pittsburgh. He earned his BA from West Liberty University in Chemistry/Physical Science/Secondary Education, as well as an MA at West Virginia University in Curriculum and Instruction/Science Education. He also pursued Doctorate Studies at West Virginia University in Curriculum and Instruction/Science Education.

In his decades as a college professor in the Education Department at Waynesburg College/Waynesburg University, Frank was passionate about passing on his love of learning and teaching to his students. His vibrant personality, creative and personalized classroom lessons, and devotion to inspiring each student caused him to be one of the most well-loved professors on the Waynesburg campus.

He also taught tennis, traveled with students on mission trips, and volunteered his many talents as part of theater productions at WU. He served on various committees, chaired the Education Department, and participated in many other activities that benefited his students, colleagues, and community. His friends and family also remember his comedic timing and charismatic personality – there were no dull moments with Frank!

He was musically gifted and played many instruments, including piano, guitar, ukulele, bass, drums, and he excelled on blues harmonica. In his younger years, he toured the U.S. with the band Castleman’s Run. He married Lisa (Wehrle) Pazzynski on July 31, 1993, and the two became a popular local music duo, performing at festivals and weddings, as well as church and community events. Frank was an integral part of the worship team at First Presbyterian Church in Waynesburg for over 25 years, and generously served at the 2nd Sam 9 ministry.

He faithfully loved and provided for his family, and especially cherished his grandkids. Surviving are his wife, Lisa; two children, Brenna Haggerty and Addie Pazzynski; and two grandchildren, Isaiah Kraf and Aída Mora-Pazzynski; two sisters, Tyna (Pazzynski) Kaltenbaugh, and Janet Pazzynski.
