He was born February 27, 1922 in Dravosburg, a son of the late David A. and Ruth Boyd Wermlinger.
Mr. Wermlinger was a veteran of World War II. He served as a motor machinist’s mate in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Harold C. Thomas.
He was a graduate of Waynesburg College.
On February 11, 1948 he married JoAnn Spragg Wermlinger who survives.
Mr. Wermlinger was employed as an insurance agent for the J.A. Goodwin Agency in Waynesburg for many years. In 1972 he was named Chief Probation Officer for Greene County. He later worked for Sears, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of several civic and fraternal organizations in Waynesburg. He was a founding member of the Waynesburg College Boosters Club, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also enjoyed playing golf at the Greene County Country Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 67 years are four children, Rebecca Klenert (Joel), Betsy Golding (Jack), David Bruce Wermlinger (Patty), and Barbara Wermlinger Dolan; 7 grandchildren, Josh Klenert, Amanda Seibert (Jason), Sean Klenert, Dr. Michael Golding ( Laura), Melissa Halstead (Ryan), Molly Kurnal (Joey) and Zach Wermlinger; 6 great-grandchildren, and one sister,
Dorothy Jane Anderson.
Deceased is a daughter, Brenda Wermlinger.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015 in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High St., Waynesburg where private services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Donald Wilson officiating.
