She was born a spunky little girl in Harrisonburg to Lessie and Abram Hershberger. She graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School and worked in the college shop. At a friend’s wedding she met Willis Davis. He built the homeplace at 2212 Lyndhurst Road, Waynesboro, Virginia and they were married November 10th, 1951. She was a dedicated homemaker known for her lemon sponge pies baked to perfection, clothes meticulously sewn and tailored, gardening skills honed over 67 years, and profusion of beautiful flowers. Those daffodils are blooming now. When she got a spare moment, she enjoyed walking and painting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and one sister. She was blessed with and is survived by three daughters, Diane Epp (Brian) and her family Marcus Epp (Anita) and his four children and Brianna Swick (Ben) and her three children, Lavonne Abe (Vernon) and her son Seth Abe, and Pam Ingalls and her daughter, Shayla.
She enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Her dining table was no longer used for eating, as it was covered with framed photographs and albums.
We will be having a private Celebration of Her Life’s Journey. She will be buried at Springdale Mennonite Church Cemetery beside her husband.
The family thanks both the Stuarts Draft Retirement Community and Augusta Health for their outstanding care and support over the last five years.
