Born June 22, 1954 in Charlottesville, Va. he was the son of the late Herbert and Helen McAllister.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Todd McAllister; and his sister, Hallie Stone.
Roger worked hard his entire life with his last job being with Daikin, formerly McQuay, in Verona, Va. During his 34 years of employment with Daikin he held several positions with the Union. He was Steward, Chief Steward, and then President of the Union for a year. He loved being a representative of the Union and did not take the responsibility of each of these roles lightly. Roger loved his animals, gardening and his family. Roger grew to love traveling when time allowed. He was a man of few wants and high integrity.
Roger is survived by his long-time companion, partner and husband of 31 years, Norman McCauley; brothers, Herbert McAllister, Jr. (Brenda) of Wendell, N.C., Melvin McAllister of Crozet, Danny McAllister (Donna) of Afton; sister, Ann McCune (Mike) of Fishersville; brother-in-law, Raymond Stone of Waynesboro. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, along with other family members.
A memorial service for Roger will be held at a later date.
There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
