Mildred Anne Yancey

Mildred Anne Yancey, 89, of Stuarts Draft, passed away Tuesday evening, April 12, 2011, at the Stuarts Draft Christian Home. Born on Friday, November 11, 1921, She was a daughter of the late James R. and Hettie Dickerson Haney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurston H. Yancey, on November 5, 2010; a sister, Kathleen; 6 brothers, James, R.B., Stuart, Eugene, Earl, and Elwood. Surviving relatives include her Children, James K. Yancey and his wife, Patricia, of Ringgold, GA; Mike Yancey and his wife Jenny, Sharon Y. Ratwik and her husband Bernhard, and Donna Y. Herbaugh and her husband Jerry, all of Stuarts Draft; grandchildren, Jason Yancey, Angela McCormick, Candace Renard, Alycia Metz, Timothy and Adam Fitzgerald, Lindsey Nice, and Brett Yancey; 17 great grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Tomlin. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2011, at Augusta Memorial Park, with Pastor Paul LaPrevotte and Pastor Earl Monroe officiating. A celebration of life service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2011 at Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, 901 Shenandoah Avenue, Waynesboro. Friends are invited to visit with the family, at the residence of Mike and Jenny Yancey, 110 Rankin Lane, Stuarts Draft, Virginia 24477. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. The family would also like to thank the staff of the Stuarts Draft Christian Home and Hospice of the Shenandoah for their loving, compassionate care for Mildred. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Mildred’s memory, to the Stuarts Draft Christian Home, 144 Patton Farm Road, Stuarts Draft, VA 24477 or the Hospice of the Shenandoah, 64 Sports Medicine Drive, Fishersville, VA 22939.
