Mary Alice Hitt

She was born April 21, 1940, a daughter of the late Harry Lee and Mary Frances (Wood) Truslow.

Mary was a long time member of Second Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro where she served as an Elder and taught Sunday School. In later years she more recently attended Smyrna Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Jerald Hitt; and a grandson, Jeremy Smith.

Survivors include her three daughters, Twinkle Tibbs and husband, Hal, Ginger Knott, and Julie Christensen; brother, Harry Lee Truslow, Jr.; sister, Nancy “Dawn” Coffey and husband, Don; 10 grandchildren, Matthew Koogler, Jonathan Tibbs, Adam Tibbs, Sawyer Thompson, Mary Caitlin Horn, Samantha Stanley, Jesse Knott, Tyler Knott, Tiffany Short, and Brittany Spencer; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Augusta Memorial Park, 1775 Goose Creek Road, Waynesboro with the Rev. Dr. John McDonald officiating. Those family members and friends wishing to attend the service may meet directly at the cemetery.

There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Second Presbyterian Church, 133 N. Delphine Ave., Waynesboro, VA 22980 or Smyrna Presbyterian Church, 174 Dooms Crossing, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
