Born August 20, 1951 in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Claude O. Skelton, Jr. and Martha (Gibson) Skelton.
Marilyn was an active and faithful member of Bridge Christian Church, Fishersville. As a church member, she participated in hosting Bible studies, prayer groups and was instrumental in starting the nursing home and prison ministries. Prior to retirement, she was employed by the News Virginian where she worked as an accounting manager for over 20 years. Her passions were music, her children and grandchildren, gardening / flowers, mountain scenery and learning, reading, praising her Lord Jesus Christ. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Leanne C. Skelton.
Survivors include her three children, Tammie Terrell and husband, Robert of Waynesboro, Gary W. Mackey and fiancé, Lisa Salmons of Waynesboro, and Michael W. Mackey and wife, Ellie of McKinney, TX; grandchildren, Elizabeth Terrell, Logan Terrell, Ryan Mackey, Anthony Mackey, Olivia Mackey, Eliana Mackey and Austin Poff; brother, Claude O. Skelton, III and wife, Gina of Baltimore, MD; sister, Mary Margaret Bowling and husband, Bob of Richmond, VA; her Guardian Angel, Beverly Hagar of Waynesboro and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Bridge Christian Church, 1275 Goose Creek Road, Fishersville with Pastor Todd Brown officiating.
