Louise Dell (Scott) Puckett, 96, of Afton passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Hospice of the Piedmont, Charlottesville.
Born March 4, 1926 in Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Void and Dora Ann (Fitzgerald) Scott.
Prior to retirement, she worked in the research lab at Conagra for over 36 years. She was a co-founder, faithful member, and associate pastor at Mountain View Full Gospel Church, Afton. As a devoted church member she served in various roles throughout her lifetime. Louise served as an adult bible teacher, Sunday School teacher, on the board of trustees, on the church board, and as a prayer warrior leader. She greatly enjoyed working word find puzzles and was affectionately known as “Momma” to so many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Scott “Bud” Puckett; daughter, Patricia Ann “Pat” “Sis” Skwarlo; brothers, Rev. Jerry Scott, Rev. Mitchell Scott, Cladie Scott, and Everett Scott; sisters, Annie Mae Truslow, Florine Campbell, Pearline Anderson, and Maggie Fitzgerald; and son-in-law, Morgan Moses.
Survivors include her two daughters, Glenda Puckett “Cookie” Atkins and husband, Daniel “Danny” Atkins of Gordonsville, VA, and Barbara Puckett “Bobbie” Moses of Charlottesville; son-in-law, Richard Skwarlo of Afton; three grandchildren, Randall Atkins, Wendy Atkins and Kim Rogers; seven great-grandchildren, Darreion Atkins, Kenyon Suter, Olivia Cappuzzo, Noah Cappuzzo, Abigail Rogers, Jerry Rogers III, and Travis Atkins; three great-great-grandchildren, Ruby Faye Cappuzzo-Oker, Bentley Atkins, and Chance Atkins; sister, Lillian Gibson; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Weedee.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the funeral home with Pastor Scott Jewell officiating. Burial will follow in Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery, Afton.
