She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 26, 1941, a daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret (Rigger) Volland.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from the University of Maryland and retired from the United States Navy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Pearman, and husband, Robert Pearman.
Jean is survived by her nephews, John “Gil” Pearman of Waynesboro, Benjamin Vincent Pearman III of Roanoke, and niece McLauren (Pearman) Foster of Nashville. Jean is also survived by many cousins in the Maryland and North Carolina regions and friends from around the globe. Jean will be remembered by all as quite the historian and conversationalist. Her passions included travel and regaling stories of her youth or inquiries into others' lives and their interests.
Following cremation there will be no services at this time. A memorial service and interment will be held in the spring in Maryland.
