Clara Lamb Tooley Mundy, 88, of Waynesboro, passed away at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation on Thursday, December 10, 2015.
She was born on November 11, 1927 in Albemarle County; however, Clara has been a resident in Waynesboro since 1958.
Clara was very active member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro; where she taught Sunday School for 51 years, was a deacon and a member of the Dorothy Turner Circle. She was also a Cub Scout Leader and volunteer in her children’s activities and school lives. Clara served as an officer and member in one of the Augusta County Home Extension Clubs. She made many friends as an Avon team leader for 16 years. Clara was especially known as a self- taught artist and crafter, along with Royce, whom died in 1991, was one of the first crafters for the original Apple Days. Clara loved her family and her home, enjoyed her many friends, feeding and watching the birds, the pet cats she had over the years, reading, and the joy she gave so many through her talents. She endeared herself to everyone with her beautiful smile.
She was predeceased by her parents, Charles Franklin, Jr. and Annie Lillian Bolton Lamb; her first husband of 43 years, Royce D. Tooley and her second husband of fifteen years, Raymond R. Mundy; three sisters, Jenny Craig, Norma Bragg and Frances Harrison; a niece, Gail Hanger.
Survivors include her children, Dwayne R. Tooley (Jayne) and Marsha T. Berg (Scott); grandchildren, Joshua Tooley (Bridget), Allison Tooley Quick (Barney), Aric Berg (Emily) and Zoe Berg (Heath Davis); great grandsons, Baylor and Sawyer Quick; as well as her niece, Betsy Craig Lawhorne; a great niece, Beth Turner and their families.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Scottsville Cemetery with the Rev. Barrett Owen officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Joshua Tooley, Aric Berg, Barney Quick, Heath Davis, J. Turner, Steve Boling, and Scott Berg.
The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015 in the Canada Room of First Baptist Church, 301 S. Wayne Ave., Waynesboro, Va.
The family would like to thank the staff of both Waynesboro Manor and Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation, as well as her home caregiver, Pamela Hale, who all cared for and grew fond of Clara during the last few years of her life.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes. Friends and family may send condolences and sign the guest book by visiting www.reynoldshamrickfuneralhomes.com.
