Charles Edward Craig, Jr., 70, of Afton passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.
Born November 5, 1951 in Albemarle County, he was a son of the late Charles Edward Craig, Sr. and Carrie Louise (Woody) Craig. On September 29, 1972 he married Patsy Ann Townsend. The two shared 49 wonderful years of marriage.
Charles was a member of Hebron Baptist Church, Afton. He was a graduate of Nelson County High School. Prior to retirement, he was employed with W. R. Gray Builders where he worked as a rental property manager. Charles loved all animals, especially his faithful fur baby k-9 companion, Muffy. With his love for animals, he greatly enjoyed raising birds. Every Sunday he looked forward to having Sunday dinner with his children at his home, and he also enjoyed going to lunch with friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Kirby.
Survivors include his loving wife, Patsy Craig of Afton; children, Karen Craig (Bud), Amanda Lamb (Todd), Charles Craig, III, and Alicia M. Pillow; grandchildren, Victoria, Kristen, Brianna, Emma, Grace, and Carrie; great-granddaughter, Carley Mack; siblings, Charlotte Liptrap (Arvey), Nancy Badoud (John), Jerry Craig (Laura), Marilyn Small (Gary); and a large extended family.
Following cremation, there will be no formal services or viewing.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Waynesboro.
