John Gerald Veenstra Sr., age 67 of Hopkins, Michigan, has passed away. Every farmer puts his land to rest for the winter. On spring’s horizon, it is brought back to life. God has put this farmer to rest Sunday, December 19, 2021 while surrounded by his family at his home, on the farm. God reached out and took John’s hand, and he now continues to walk with a spring in his step, a shovel in hand on the horizon of a new life.
John was born to Robert and Ethel Veenstra May 25, 1954 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His parents precede him in death, along with other family and friends. John is survived by his wife, Kathy; children Rebecca (Rob) Brown, John Jr. (Karla) Veenstra; and grandchildren.
John was a faithful, simple, loving, and quiet man who was humble and honorable to the end. Farming was his life, his love, and his passion. From milking cows, to raising pigs, the barns were always full. Among farming, John also worked at Perrigo in Allegan, Michigan for over 21 years.
