1954-2019
WATERVILLE- John J. Nadeau, 65, of Waterville passed away at his home unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. He was born on January 8, 1954 in Waterville, a son of the late Leroy R. Nadeau and Evelyn (Picard) Nadeau. John was a beloved husband, father and friend. His warmth and kindness endeared him to many.
He graduated from Winslow High School in 1972. After high school John was employed at Scott Paper Company and Kimberly Clark Company in Winslow for 25 years. He also worked for Cascades Auburn Fiber in Auburn for 18 years and Molnlycke Healthcare in Wiscasset for 18 months. His retirement in February 2018 was well deserved, but sadly much too short.
He married Helen Mathieu on September 18, 1976. They were blessed to share 42 years together and raise two sons. John had an unwavering Christian faith that guided him throughout his life.
He always put his family first. His wife Helen and sons Daniel and David were his greatest joy. John enjoyed coaching his sons’ hockey teams when they were younger. He had a wonderful sense of humor and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a fan of all of the Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Boston Bruins. He loved playing golf, fishing and spending time with his family. Most Saturday mornings he met up with a group of co-workers and friends for breakfast.
John is survived by his wife Helen of Waterville; his son Daniel and wife Kahli of Waterville; his son David of Wells; his brother Peter Nadeau and wife Sharon of Winslow; his brother James Nadeau and wife Janet of Winslow; his brother-in-law David Mathieu of Waterville; as well as several aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
His endless love for all of us will never be forgotten. John will be in our thoughts and hearts forever.
The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to Delta Ambulance, Waterville Fire/Rescue, Waterville Police Department and the staff at the Inland Emergency Department who desperately tried to bring John back to us. We would also like to thank the two men that stopped to render aid until the emergency responders arrived.
At his request there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday January 17, 2019 at 10:00 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 112 Silver Street, Waterville. Burial will be private in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove Street, Waterville.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Veilleux’s Funeral Home 8 Elm St. Waterville, Maine 04901. Please visit www.veilleuxfuneralhome.com to share condolences, memories and tributes with his family.
