Teresa was born in County Louth, Ireland to James and Bridget Dullaghan. She was the third of six children and is survived by her sister Monica Caraher (Ireland). She immigrated to the United States at the age of 25 and raised her family in Blooming Grove, New York.
Teresa was a fixture in her community for several decades. She was a frequent volunteer at the Blooming Grove Humane Society and the Blooming Grove Senior Center where she once held the position of President. Teresa was politically active in her town as she helped run the polls and campaign around Washingtonville. She was presented with many awards from Elected Officials for her public service. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Ann, Mother of Mary. As a St. Mary’s parishioner, Teresa could often be seen singing to the hymns and assisting with the offering of the gifts.
Teresa is survived by her three loving daughters and their spouses: Mary and John Hyde, Noreen and Rick Calderin, and Ann and Michael Burke. As well as her adored grandchildren: John, Katie, Colleen, Jillian and her husband Zachary, Erica, Christine, Owen, Bridget and Daniel, who more affectionally knew her as Nana, along with many nieces and nephews in Ireland.
Teresa was a bright light in her family and in her community that she made her home and she will be deeply missed.
There will be a mass of Christian burial at St. Mary’s Church, 42 Goshen Ave, Washingtonville, New York 10992 on Monday, December 13th, 2021 at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Blooming Grove Humane Society, 2741 NY-94, Washingtonville, NY 10992. The family would like to say a special thank you to FISH of Blooming Grove, Hospice of Orange and Sullivan County, and her many caretakers, especially Tina.
