Karen Elizabeth Gilbert

Karen Elizabeth Gilbert, a resident of New Windsor, NY, passed away on July 26, 2023. She was 73. Karen was born on January 22, 1950 in Kearny, NJ to the late John and Katherine (Testa) Forsyth. She worked for many years as an office manager in the billing department for St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital.

Karen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and daughter. Her best times were spent with family whether celebrating holidays, enjoying the beach, playing games or catching up on family news. She was always the smartest one in the room and the one everyone would seek out for sound advice. Nothing gave her more pleasure than to share in the joy of others. Karen was proud of her Scottish heritage and loved to spend time researching her family tree. She was a past member of the Twin River Cloggers, Red Hat Ladies and the Mountain Lodge Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Carlton Gilbert of New Windsor, NY, her daughter Kelly Mistry, and son in law Dinesh, and daughter Heather Carpentieri and son in law Michael as well as her step sons Kurt Gilbert (Julie), Scott Gilbert(Tammy) and step daughters Sue Hennessey (Edward) and Faith; her sister Jeanne McCabe and brother in law John; nephew John McCabe (Vivian) and niece Kristen Gottschalk (Erik). Karen was also a beloved grandma to her grandchildren Maya, Paige, Nico, Hadley, Charlotte, Matthew, Stephen, Brian, Joey, Jason and Tony as well as her furry companion Hudson who all adored her.

She was predeceased by her loving father and mother John and Katherine and her beloved dogs Riley and Abbe.

Memorial service is scheduled on Wednesday, August 2 from 4-7pm with a service at 6:30pm at David T Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, NY 10992.
