Doris Rigmor Mason

Doris Rigmor Mason, (née Arnthsen) age 87, of Middletown, New York passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Doris was born in Tonsberg, Norway, where she lived until she moved to Brooklyn, New York in her early 20’s. It was there that she met her first husband, Ingolf Rannestad, who she married in February, 1958. Ingolf died June 1976 as a result of a tragic accident.

In the following years, Doris met Joseph H. Mason III, whom she was happily married to until his death in June, 2015.

Doris was a part time hairdresser by trade. She loved cooking, especially delicious Norwegian dishes. She was an accomplished Ball Room Dancer, and also enjoyed bowling, and reading.

Doris was a caring and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was loved by everyone that met her.

Doris is survived by her sisters Birgit Andersen, of Staten Island, New York, and Turid Cimino, of St. Petersburg, Florida; daughter Linda Baxter (Daniel); son Glenn Rannestad (Susan); step-son Joseph H Mason (Ronnie); step-daughter Bonnie Borghi (Paul); grandchildren Daniel (Amy), Ryan, and Dylan Baxter; Paul Miller, Erica Rannestad (Fabricio Lima DeMedeiros), Michaela Higgins (Jack), Gary, Ron, and Tiffany Tortorello, Caitlin Mason, Paul, Jeremy, and Justin Borghi; great-grandchildren Victoria and Nathaniel Baxter, Maeve and Hildi Higgins; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Doris was pre-deceased by her first husband, Ingolf Rannestad, her husband Joseph H. Mason III, sister Jorunn Winks, brothers Arne, Boris, and Kurt Arnthsen.

A memorial visitation for Doris will be held Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at David T Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, NY 10992.
