Senior Counsel at Covington & Burling LLP, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2013 surrounded by his family. Dick was born in Newark, NJ and graduated from Yale University in 1956 and Yale Law School in 1959. Dick spent his entire career as a tax lawyer at Covington & Burling, in addition to serving on active duty in the United States Army during the 1961 Berlin crisis. He was a trusted advisor to many clients over his career. Dick took special pride in mentoring young lawyers and was known by his colleagues as a thoughtful teacher. He was an avid reader of history, a world-class oenophile, and a devout Catholic. His greatest joy was spending time with his family at their house in Bethany Beach.
Dick is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Tink); four children, Cecilia Brady of New York, NY, Kathleen Brady of Fairfax, VA, Andrew Brady and Joshua Brady, both of Chevy Chase, MD; and five grandchildren, Gavin, Colin, Amelia, Ava, and Grayson.
Viewing will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 from to 6 to 8 p.m. at Joseph Gawler's Sons Funeral Home, 5130 Wisconsin Ave., NW, Washington, DC. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, 6900 River Rd., Bethesda, MD 20817.
