Dr. Thomas McCauley MD

Dr. McCauley was a 1974 graduate of LaSalle Academy. At Boston College he ranked first in his class and Phi Beta Kappa in his junior year. He later attended Brown University Medical School and became board certified in internal medicine. Dr. Tom’s ophthalmology residency was at Yale University. In addition to his private practice, he was a clinical assistant professor of surgery at Brown.

Despite all his professional achievements, what mattered most to Dr. Tom was how he wanted people to be treated. In referencing Dr. McCauley, David Chang, MD, editor of the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery noted the following: “We ophthalmologists are blessed with amazing knowledge, training, and microsurgical skills. Let us not forget, however, the power and influence that come from simple acts of kindness and integrity without requiring such credentials “.

Dr. McCauley is survived by his best friend and life partner Michele Palazzolo and several cousins.

Family and friends are invited to call Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 3:00-6:00 pm in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. Funeral will be Monday, June 5, 2023 at 8:30 AM from the funeral home. His Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, June 5, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Adalbert's Church, 866 Atwells Ave, Providence, RI. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, 73 Church St, Cranston.
