Paul John Donnelly

Paul John Donnelly, born on August 9, 1952, in Providence, Rhode Island, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. He was the beloved son of Edward F. " Ted " and Helen F. ( Droney ) Donnelly, both of whom predeceased him.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Moira, who brought eternal sunshine and joy to his life. He grew up in a lively household with eight siblings: Ellen, Sally, Thomas, Ted, Jim, Bobby, Kevin, and Mary. Together with their parents, they created countless memories in Providence and at their family’s summer cabin in Bonnet Shores. It was at Bonnet Shores that Paul flourished and formed lifelong friendships, including a sixty-five-year friendship with James O. Daley, who was like a brother to him.

A graduate of La Salle Academy and the University of Rhode Island, Paul built a successful career in hospitality and club management. Beyond his professional life, Paul found great joy in the company of his many nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends. He was always welcome at the Barry family table, which he fondly referred to as “in-laws and outlaws.”

Paul will be remembered for his wonderful cooking, love for all things political, his eclectic taste in music, his enduring friendships, and the joy he found in being a father.

Services will be private. A remembrance gathering will be scheduled in the new year.
