He was the beloved husband of Marilyn R. (McVay) Mathison, with whom he shared 29 blissful years of marriage and the loving father of Lydea R. Irwin of Concord, NH.
Born in Long Beach, CA and growing up in Solana Beach, Scott was the son of the late Vic and Jane (Sellers) Mathison. He spent much of his youth surfing the ocean and dirt bike racing in the desert. Scott was a master diesel technician and with his father converted a 1959 school bus into a motorhome that he used to move to Rhode Island in 1997.
After restoring his 1932 house in Warren he found his true calling and
started Scott’s Doors & Windows. He took pride in all his work, his craftsmanship and artistic eye was in high demand in the historic preservation community.
A man of many passions and skills, Scott enjoyed sharing his interests and stories with family and friends. A former member of the San Diego Bicycle Club, he returned to cycling recently with fervor and could often be found in his shop building new bicycles.
Along with his wife and daughter, he is survived by his sisters: Joan Mathison, Jean Benelli and Christy Knoblock, all of California and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the First United Methodist Church, 25 Church Street, Warren. Relatives and friends are invited. His visitation will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main Street, Warren.
