Rioux, Robert E., Sr., 81, passed away Friday, February 20, 2015. Born in Woonsocket, RI he was the son of the late Florence (Rioux) Miclette.
Mr. Rioux was a proud Army Veteran of the Korean War in the 24th Infantry Division and a Purple Heart recipient. He was also a member of the NRA, the Bristol VFW, the ACLU and a longtime member of the Carpenter’s Local 94.
He is survived by his daughters, Tribbie Foster and her husband Kevin, Kerri Ferreira and her husband Mike, Valeda Kennedy and her husband Steven and Sandra Frances and her partner Sue Lemos; sons, Robert Rioux, Jr., Joseph Rioux and his wife Jennifer, Russell Frances and Michael Akervik; fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his third wife Shirley (Pimental) Rioux and his grandson Joseph “Little Bear” Rioux. He also leaves his best friend Poncho.
His funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27th at 9AM from the WILBUR-ROMANO FUNERAL HOME, 615 Main St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Mary of the Bay Parish, 645 Main St. Burial with Military Honors will be in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation Thursday, 4 -7 PM.
