Born in Lagoa, Sao Miguel, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Maria do Carmo (Reis) Arruda.
Maria worked as a Jewelry Assembler for Rj Manufacturing for many years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and spending time working in her garden.
She is survived by five children, Jorge Morais and his wife Martha of Rumford, Goretti Sousa and her husband Joe of Warren, Esmeralda Simao and her husband Eduardo of Warren, Peter Morais and his wife Theresa of Fall River, and Helen Cunha and her husband Joe of Bristol; seven grandchildren, Christine and her husband Cliff, Nelson, Cathy, Eric and his companion Nicole, Brandon, Alison, and Gunnar; three great-grandchildren, Mason, Leah, and Jayden; one brother, Duarte Arruda of Dartmouth as well as many nieces and nephews. Maria was the mother of the late Paul Morais and sister of the late Alda Borges.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM in Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Warren. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave., Waltham, MA 02451.
