On July 17, 2024, Todd Edward Crawford, beloved husband, father, papa and friend, passed away at the age of 60. Todd was born on April 22, 1964, to Edward Crawford and Carole Blevins in Royal, Oak, Michigan. Throughout his life, Todd touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.
His vibrant personality earned him the title of being known as the "life of the party," as Todd always wore a smile that could light up any room. He had a knack for having a good time and always making those around him feel welcome. His support and care for others was unwavering, no matter if he had known them for ten years or ten days. Todd would give everyone and anyone a nickname—a testament to the deep connections he formed with those around him.
Family was above all else for Todd. His love and dedication for his wife, Julie, remained as strong at the end as it did the very first day they met. Their love was like something you only read or see in the movies, which goes to show that when Todd cared for someone, he was all in. His three daughters, Sarah, Abbey, and the late Brittney were his everything. Watching them grow up into the strong and beautiful women they are today was something he cherished deeply. Todd was always there for Sarah, Abbey, and Brittney no matter the circumstances; he truly was the world’s best Dad. He was also so incredibly proud to be a Papa. The days Taylor, Summer, and Anthony were born were three of the happiest days of Todd’s life. Being both Dad and Papa in this lifetime were what made the hardest of times worthwhile. There was nothing more important to Todd than his family.
Todd cherished gatherings, particularly during Thanksgiving and Christmas, where he rejoiced in having all his loved ones together. During these holidays, Todd would prepare delectable feasts for everyone to enjoy. This played a factor in Todd being known as the “Grill Master” at home. Todd’s cooking brought people together, something that he grew fond of even outside of the holiday season. His infectious smile and warm personality while preparing these meals made these moments unforgettable for his family and friends.
He had several passions throughout his life. A true aficionado of music, Todd's playlists were often dominated by Led Zeppelin, The Who, and The Doors. He also had a special affection for all things Halloween, from classic horror movies like Halloween and Friday the 13th, to trips to Cedar Point solely for Halloweekends, despite his fear of heights. But his love for movies extended beyond horror, encompassing classics like JAWS and Godzilla, which he enjoyed with family. Todd often found peace and joy in nature, spending countless hours in his meticulously tended backyard, so he could enjoy the space no matter the time of year. Traveling was another passion of Todd's, with annual trips to Frankenmuth around Easter being cherished moments spent with his wife, daughters, and grandkids. Trips to Detroit Lions’ football games was another thing that Todd absolutely loved. He loved all sports, but for the Detroit Lions, he was a diehard fan—possibly even their number one fan. No matter the time of year, Todd found joy in exploring new things and places to create lasting memories enjoying the things he loved with the people he loved.
Todd Edward Crawford will be dearly missed by his loving family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering positivity will continue to inspire and comfort us all.
