Robert Daniel Sheets

Robert Daniel Sheets, age 61 of Warren, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He was born October 17, 1954 in Detroit, son of the late Daniel and the late Dorothy (nee: Simmons) Sheets.Robert was one of God's special souls, placed into the care of Daniel & Dorothy to be loved and embraced through the challenges of being a special needs son. Following birth through his first three months, everything was going smoothly until a contracted illness left Robert vulnerable to effects that nobody expected and which caused his parents and family to look inward and adjust to the new norm. Robert may have needed some extra attention, but the love he gave in return was beyond expression.Robert lived with his parents for most of his life, until life brought unmanageable changes for his continued care. As Dorothy's health began to decline and the brevity of the situation was considered, it was then that Robert took up new residence in a group home where his care could be better supervised and extended. Throughout his life, Robert enjoyed working out his faith as a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church in Sterling Heights. Together with Mom, he found immense delight in attending Mass and engaging with his fellow parishioners over the years. Though Robert was challenged in remembering and retaining dates, one thing he knew for sure,…he could party till the cows came home when it entailed a birthday celebration. He absolutely loved birthday parties and all the fun and entertainment that ensued. Another favorite aspect of Robert's life was enveloped by music. Whether he was singing to it,…dancing to it,…listening to it,…or playing it on his guitar, there was no question of how much music not only entertained his soul, but soothed it as well. He loved music,…and is now enjoying its ultimate pleasure amidst the angels in Heaven.Robert was the beloved son of Daniel & Dorothy, both of whom preceded him in death. Dearest brother of Kenneth Sheets, Daniel (Sarah) Sheets, and Laura (Thomas) Leslie. He was also the loving uncle of Nicole, Kristie, Tina, Nicholas, Aaron, Ashley, Rachel, Michael, Nathan, Isaac, Leah, Brittney, Christine, and great-uncle of Ryan, Trevor, Tyler, Austin, Autumn, LaLeia, and Alyssa. A Private Family Memorial Service for Robert will be held at a later date. Details yet to be determined.Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S.
