Leonard S. Nowak, age 81, died December 31, 2012 in Warren, Michigan. He was born October 5, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Stephen Nowak and the late Eleanor (nee:Olekszyk) Nowak. In February of 1952, Leonard was drafted into the United States Army. With thanks and praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Leonard for the call to duty he proudly answered.Leonard was a man that loved life, casinos, polkas, gardening, and flowers. He spent many summers at Pearl Beach, Michigan with his family members enjoying the water, fishing, and the sun. He was the family historian who could recall dates, names and important events for all. Leonard's legacy will definitely be one of the tremendous love and care for each and every person that passed through his life. He will forever be affectionately known as the "Rock of the family!"Leonard was the dear father of Alan (Jenice) Nowak. Loving grandfather of Shelby, and Keith Nowak. Beloved brother of Dolores (the late Leonard) Noring, Thomas (the late Antoinette) Nowak, and the late Stephanie (the late Jerry) Palutis. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Leonard was pre-deceased by his parents Stephen and Eleanor Nowak. Visitation Friday 3-9pm with an evening Rosary at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road). Funeral Service Saturday at 11am at the Funeral Home with Father Roman Pasieczny officiating the service. Entombment to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Detroit.In lieu of flowers donations appreciated to The Capuchins or American Cancer Society. Please share memories at his memory book.
