So sorry to hear about Mr. striker he was an awesome man the best candy maker and ice cream maker I ever knew always enjoy talking to him at his store he was awesome father and husband and may he rest in peace he will be missed God bless you and prayers to you and your family

We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our friend. We spent many enjoyable hours in his company at his home on Harsens Island. When I first met him at his candy store in Eastpointe, I dupped him "charming" and came to enjoy many of his stories and jokes through the years. He always brought a smile to our faces. Isaac and I will miss him dearly. Out thought and prayers are with his family.

It was always a pleasure to be in the company of Mr. John Strika. His style of expressing his love for family and friends is a beautiful example for all men, and will certainly be warmly remembered. Mr. Strika carried himself with a certain dignity and strength, that always reminded me of Yul Brenner.
May the God of all Comfort be with Steven and all the Strika family and friends at this time, as we remember our dear friend.

Steve, Kathy, Sharon, Christine and family-- the deepest condolences from the Caron family. We vacationed and hung out with your family more than we did with our own larger family! Your Dad, along with Gus Allard, my Dad, and a few others made up for quite a gang, that loved to have fun, laugh, fish, and just hang out together. We were introduced to Alinosi ice cream and later Strika chocolates every holiday. And I remember plenty of both being around our house!. Your Dad on his Harley was a pretty cool site too. He was a pretty cool cat on that! Somehow, my Dad bought a bike too. That didn't go so well...I believe he rode that right into the neighbor's fence, and it didn't move from the garage much after that. We have a lot of great memories from those days. Our father's fished almost every weekend for a spell too, especially after your Mom and Dad bought the house on Harsen's Island. Hang in there this week. Dear Kathy, Steve, Chrissy, Sharon & Family....we are so saddened to hear of your Dad's passing yet realize that he is now united with your dear Mother in heaven! Eternal rest grant unto Uncle Johnny Oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. Amen.

I'm so sorry about your lost. I wish I wasn't out of the country. I will always remember talking to your father and I'm glad I had the opportunity to get to know him.

My heart is broken, I don't think I am ready for a world without John Strika. We were going to be home for a visit from Australia in two weeks, can't believe you won't be there when we get back. That we won't have an hour long conversation about nothing and that I won't be fixing your butterfly and dragon fly garden lights for the 30th time when I get home, because they only last a few months at a time before needing repair. I'll 'plant' a pink bunch of silk flowers in our garden for you. I'll miss you're chicken cacciatori, your inventive meatloaf, your fresh fried fish, the overdone brussel sprouts, oxtail soup and the best roast chicken ever made, not to leave out your sugared and fresh pears and peaches from the back trees. I'll miss the gallon wine poured into smaller bottles so it looks better on the counter. I'll miss the 9 gallons of ice cream you would make for us to just have a 'taste'. Your horribly bad jokes and your beautiful songs with guitar accompaniment. I bet that tree in your front yard looks a mess without me there. I am so sorry to have missed you, but glad you aren't suffering. Christine and family, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

So many great memories; your smile, your songs, your chocolate, your big heart. We will miss you dearly, but will see you in the legacy that you have left here for us. Your children, grandchildren and great grands will carry a piece of you with them. Rest in peace John.
