Born and raised in Birmingham, Michigan, Joan was a proud graduate of Seaholm High School. She later moved to Naples, Florida, where she lived for the past 25 years, becoming a beloved member of the local community. Joan was known for her boundless energy and her dedication to helping others. She was deeply involved in both her Michigan and Florida communities, offering her time and talents to numerous causes. Whether volunteering at her church, lending a hand at the local zoo, or contributing to local museums, Joan’s compassion and spirit of service touched the lives of many.
In her professional life, Joan worked as a concierge for the Marriott hotel in Marco Island, where she made lasting friendships with both guests and colleagues alike. Her warmth, kindness, and natural ability to connect with people made her a standout in everything she did.
Joan was a loving and devoted family member, with family always at the center of her heart. She cherished the moments spent with her loved ones and created lasting memories filled with laughter and love. Joan’s presence will be greatly missed, but her spirit of giving, joy, and love will remain with us always.
Joan was the beloved mother of the late John Joseph "JJ" Sanner. Loving sister of the late Joel (Cathy) Smith and the late Joyce Smith Peck. Cherished aunt of Brad Smith, Greg Smith, Jennifer (John) Ivinson, and Lauren (Rob) Tori. Dear great-aunt of Bailey, Beatrice, Walker, Cole, Jonathan, Josie, Scott, Anthony, Emily, and Steven. Adored fur-mom of the late Misty the cat.
