James Marvin Lush

James Marvin Lush, age 97 of Fraser, died Monday, January 1, 2018 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. He was born December 5, 1920 in Hodgenville, Kentucky, son of the late George and the late Lillian (nee: Nillia) Lush.With thanks and praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to James for his service to our country during World War II as a soldier in the U.S. Army. Ultimately attaining the rank of Private First Class, we honor James and extend our posthumous gratitude for his willingness to stand in harm's way for the sake of freedom's cause. For the sacrifices made and his bravery in the face of adversity, we acknowledge James' patriotism in answering his call to duty with pride. James was quite proud of the career path in which he extended the utmost in service excellence for over 30 years with the iconic automotive supplier, The Budd Company. Serving an integral role as part of their Shipping & Receiving team, James provided his employer with unquestionable dedication and supreme attention to detail in the performance of his job. When time away from work afforded him the pleasures he enjoyed, one of James' favorites was definitely hunting. Specifically, he garnered great challenge and reward from chasing down the various pheasants and rabbits that scurried up above and throughout the fields giving him a sporting chance. And for as much as he exercised that sporting prowess of hunting, James was also known for being quite the animal lover as well. The hunting excursions were always special for James as it provided the opportunity of being out in the open and soaking up the beauty and splendor that the landscape exuded, an appreciation that he coveted dearly. It was an appreciation that stirred an artistic flair that lie within him as he turned his mind's eye and artful leanings to the easel & canvass through the rendering of landscapes that he painted over the years. He managed to acquire quite the nice little gallery of works throughout his life,…some of which will be on display at his visitation.Still in the vein of James' artistic side, another mode of expressing himself came through his incredible woodworking talents. Molding and fabricating his wooden treasures brought James immense joy, and a chance to enhance the lives of others in the process. Though some may consider it to be a form of art, James also possessed some true gifts when it came to cooking. He loved to cook and bring happiness to others through pleasing their appetites and supplying something tasty to eat. Give him the opportunity of preparing a meal and James could throw something magical together in no time,…and always with style. It's been said "when you're eating, you're happy." That being the case, there were always elated faces that sat at his table and left with a smile. If you left James' table hungry, you simply weren't trying.As for those quiet, "white-space" kind of moments, James found great delight by sitting down in front of the television and taking in a good, ole Black & White movie,…you know, the Ol' Classics. Nothing like many of the more modern day fare, James loved reliving many of the memories that would come flooding back with each time he revisited the movies he grew up enjoying. It was simply a "blast from the past."Yet of all he held most dear and enjoyed the most, nothing could hold a candle to the adoration and compassion that he emanated when it came to family,…especially those treasured cherubs, his grandchildren. Family meant the world to James, and his grandchildren made him light up inside like the 4th of July. They say it's the youth around us that keeps us young,…which is no surprise that James was quite the youthful 97 years of age. A loving husband, father and grandfather, James leaves an impact and influence on the hearts of many which will be felt and embraced with each reflection that brings him close. He touched a multitude of souls in his journey through life and leaves behind a legacy to be cherished always. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally. James was the beloved husband of the late Margaret. Dearest father of Robert Lush, William (Mary) Lush, Lisa (Robert) Lackie, and the late Charles Lush. He was the loving grandfather of 4, great-grandfather of 8, and brother of Martha and "Birdie." Visitation for James will be held Thursday, January 4th from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd.) in Warren. His Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 am on Friday at the funeral home.
