Gisella Matye

Gisella Matye (Née Frey), age 87, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2022, in Charlevoix, Michigan. Gisella was born on November 25, 1934 in Steingrün, Czechoslovakia to Matthias and Margareta Frey.

The beloved wife of the late Anton Matye Sr (*1933-2008). The loving mother to Reinhard (Jill), Anton Jr (Diane) and the late Lisa (1964-2020). Oma to Andrea Whitley, Christopher (Sarah), Anton III (Dr Lindsay Harden), Lauren Pardy, Jared Imlay and Christian. “Omi Omi” to Maya, Kai, Julius and Henry. Dear sister of Edith (Heinrich) Sehling, Anna Kapraun (Fritz), Amalia (Paul) Gornig and George (Annelore) Frey. Sister-in-law to Katherina (Karl) Kohl, former mother-in-law to Elizabeth Matye. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband Anton Matye Sr, Daughter Lisa Matye. Sisters Gretel (Emil) Klee, Leni (Anton) Forhanns, and Marie (Karl) Mücke.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 1, from 2:00pm until 8pm, with a Rosary at 7:00pm. at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, at Masonic, in Warren. Instate will be on Friday, September 2, from 9:30am until time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00am, at St. Anastasia, 4571 John R Road, in Troy.
