Edward Tadeusz Pawlik, age 91 and former resident of Warren, died Saturday, May 3, 2014 at his home in Ocoee, Florida. He was born November 16, 1922 in Hamtramck, Michigan, son of the late John and the late Ksawera (nee: Pawlobska) Pawlik.A man steeped in the pride and heritage of his Polish upbringing and his hometown of Hamtramck, it was there he was born & raised,…and was a proud graduate of Hamtramck High School. Following school, Edward landed a job with a suitcase factory where he worked as a fabric cutter. It wasn't long before Uncle Sam came calling and Edward found himself in the uniform of our U.S. Army. As our nation was engaged in the throes of World War II, the army assigned Edward to the position of wire stringer in their Communications Unit in Germany,…and it was there that he would spend the next 4 years doing his part for the war effort. With thanks & praise from a grateful nation, we honor Edward for his service to our country, and for standing in harm's way for the sake of the freedoms and liberties we enjoy today because he was there.Following his time overseas, Edward returned to his roots in Hamtramck where he would ultimately gain employment with the Chrysler Motors Corporation. Extending the utmost in loyalty and dedicated service for over 43 years, it is from there that he would retire following an esteemed role as Layout Designer. The year 1997 was a special and memorable year for Edward. It was then that he would return to Germany for a visit,…this time with a handful of camera instead of a rifle. Though his first experience in Germany came with mixed emotions,…still, it is there that he lived, created friendships, and fought to survive for 4 years of his life. Returning there some 50+ years later was about revisiting memories he'd carried with deep reflection. 1997 was also the year that Edward decided to exchange the wintry season of Michigan for that of Florida's sunshine & warmth. Becoming one of those famed "Snowbird's" was a decision he never regretted. In telling the story of Edward, there just has to be a mention of his favorite and acclaimed pastime,…his coveted Cuckoo Clocks. He was enamored and enveloped with a special passion for these intricate and unique works of art. From those that hung in his home, to the many photos and pictures he collected of his treasured time pieces, Edward's hobby was truly of the stand alone variety.Other traits that Edward will be remembered for was his love of animals,…and, definitely, his love of sweets. Of course, being from Hamtramck automatically makes one a sweets lover, right? He was also a kind-hearted soul who possessed a wonderful sense of humor. He will truly be missed.Edward was the beloved husband of Joyce Ann Chambers-Pawlik. He is also survived by several other loving family members & friends.A Memorial Visitation for Edward will be held on Sunday, June 1st from 1-3pm at the D.S.
