Dorothy Anne Schreiber, age 79, died Saturday, March 8, 2014 in Sterling Heights. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 21, 1934 to the late Earle Mowry and the late Dorothy (nee: Taylor) Mowry. The beloved wife of the late Gerald, the two were married in Detroit, Michigan and shared a loving 54 years together until Gerald's death in 2010.Dorothy led an eclectic life that was filled with wonderful memoires of the family and friendship times she enjoyed. After losing her helpmate, she was not content to just sit around,…so she became the consummate traveler, enjoying many different trips with her, children, grandchildren, and her friends. Her bags were always packed and ready to hit the road. Of all her adventures, the memory of the trip to Disney was by far one of her favorites,...although Vegas may come in as a close second. When Dorothy wasn't traveling, she loved escaping to her garden where the work of her hands & heart was evidenced in the beautiful flowers that adorned her yard. Her flowers were truly a reflection of the care she poured into her garden. And as much as her caring nature was seen through her gardening talents, it was the people in her life that truly benefitted from Dorothy's caregiving gifts. She lived for taking care of her grandchildren. She was a "cheap" babysitter and an awesome one too. Always smiling, never angry,…she was known as being the most even-keeled person around. When it came to Dorothy's talents and creativity, her handiwork shined through the cross stitching and baking. She was known as a great card player, cook, baker, and decorator.Dorothy's legacy will definitely be one of tremendous love and care for each and every person that passed through her life. She will forever be affectionately known as the "Rock of the Family!" She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald. Dear mother of Sue, Betsy, Eric (Barb), and Steve (Dawn) Schreiber. Loving grandmother of Nick, Ben, Alex, Cameron, and Justin Schreiber. Visitation for Dorothy will be held on Tuesday from 3:30pm until the time of her Funeral Service at 7:00pm at the D.S.
