Diana Augusta Allor

Diana Augusta Allor, age 97 of Chesterfield Township, died Sunday, April 30, 2017 at ShorePointe Nursing Center in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. She was born March 15, 1920 in Coleman, Alberta, Canada, daughter of the late Aime and the late Marie Teresa (nee: Monty) Mousty.Born in the land of our neighbors to the north, Diana became a U.S. citizen upon relocating to America with her family in 1928. They chose Detroit as their new home which is where Diana grew up, attended school and matured to a beautiful young woman. Her beauty would ultimately catch the eye of a dashing young gentleman by the name of Glenn Allor, the man with whom Diana would fall in love and follow to the throes of matrimony. Cupid's arrow worked its magic and the two were married on May 4, 1940, shortly after Diana's 20th birthday. The Allor family would eventually move to the bedroom community of Harper Woods where Diana & Glenn raised their family and nurtured the comforts of home and hearth. After years of living amidst the northern outskirts of Detroit, Diana decided to relocate further north to the city of Troy. Once the kids were gone and it was just she and Glenn again, the love that she and Glenn had built upon over the years was something they treasured as the house was simply theirs again. She and Glenn would continue to abide in that love until Glenn's passing on May 2, 2006,…just 2 days shy of their 66th wedding anniversary. Along with the grand responsibility of raising a family and attending to the needs at home, Diana was also quite proud of the time she spent working as a secretary for the trucking giant, Fruehauf. When she wasn't working, be it at home or on the job, Diana enjoyed feeding her appetite as an avid reader. Most weeks found her reading at least 2-3 books, which joined the many other reading materials that graced her library. Another pastime she enjoyed was traveling, something she did extensively throughout the U.S. and to places abroad. Other scenic highlights included the splendor of Paris, Greece, Tokyo, and South America, all of which added to her portfolio of pleasures experienced around the globe.Considered quite intelligent and articulate, Diana was never afraid to try something new and different,…as evidenced by her fearless walk on the wild side with all things digital. When it came to many of the devices that have permeated our society, Diana was on top of it and in touch. From her Kindle, to her iPad and iPhone, she was quite the regular visitor to such sites as Facebook and Instagram, and e-mailed and texted with the best of them. Diana lived independently up until her 97th birthday and was actually doing quite well,…until taking a nasty fall and succumbing to a broken hip. Diana was so vibrant and sharp only to have it all change, in the blink of an eye, by the effects of something unexpected. She was 97 years strong, yet her strength was up against a wall she simply had no control over. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Diana leaves a storehouse of wonderful memories for all to reflect upon who were blessed to know her. She touched a multitude of souls throughout her life's journey and leaves a legacy to embrace of how that touched impacted each heart and life. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Diana was the beloved wife of the late Glenn. Dearest mother of Kathleen (Garet) Nenninger, Claudia (Rick) Gram, and the late Douglas Allor. Sister of the late Claude Mousty. Loving grandmother of Garet (Lisette) Nenninger, Gregory Nenninger, Brian (Carrie) Nenninger, Deborah (Michael) Fitzsimmons, Jeffrey (Shannon) Allor, and Neal (Shaina) Gram. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. A Memorial Service for Diana will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at First English Lutheran Church in Grosse Pointe Woods. Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd.) in Warren. Please share memories of Diana at her memory book above.
