Born in Detroit to the late Leonard and Cecilia Gostomski, Carol had an impeccable knack for making friends and an impressive ability to maintain friendships, many of which started in grade school and lasted her lifetime. Carol was always there for friends and family during their times of strong adversity and tribulation, to lift them up and provide support when they needed it most. Carol grew up in a Catholic neighborhood where she attended grade school at St. Scholastica and then Detroit Mercy High School. She remained a devout Catholic throughout her life as a longtime member of St. Malachy Catholic Church. Carol found enjoyment through surrounding herself with others and always loved to have a good time. She laughed easily and often. Being a mom and grandma was something Carol genuinely cherished, making sure to call her loved ones every day and relished frequent vacations with her children. Carol always loved trips to the casino where playing slots was her favorite. Each day, Carol would have a specific plan of what she was going to do, most often including talking with friends, spending time with loved ones, and eating at her favorite restaurants. Carol always knew which local places were the best, and would often surprise her family with new and fun locations to dine at. One of her favorite places to take her granddaughters was Mike’s on the Water in St. Clair Shores. She also loved to visit Frankenmuth over the years, enjoying the beautiful town, little shops, and ending the day with their famous chicken dinner. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and dear friend- Carol will be sincerely missed by all who survive her.
Carol was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Curtis, and deeply treasured their 42 years of marriage. Loving mother of Julie (Kevin) Baker, David (Christine) Curtis, and Lorie (Robert) Arcand. Dear grandmother of Brian (Kathy), Jaclyn, Kristy, Brandon, Adam, Alex, and the late Joseph. Cherished Nana of Ellie, Logan, Ethan, Maxim, Waylon, Noah, and Samuel. Predeceased by her late brother James Gostomski.
