Carl H. Schneider, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. He was a remarkable man whose life was marked by love, generosity, and a deep sense of joy. Born on March 23, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, to Carl Emil Schneider and Johanna (nee Richter) Schneider, Carl grew up with a sense of purpose and a strong family foundation. He graduated from Bush High School (now Centerline High School) in 1957 and went on to build a life rich in love and laughter.
In 1959, Carl met Margaret Mozer, the love of his life, and they married two years later in 1961. Their union was a testament to true love and companionship, and they were blessed with four sons, Gerald, Thomas, Mark, and Carl. Margaret cherished Carl's strength, loving nature, and unwavering determination—qualities that made him the man she knew she wanted to spend her life with.
A true family man, Carl was always there to support those he loved, willing to drop everything if someone needed him. His attentiveness, thoughtfulness, and helpful nature made him a cherished presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren.
Carl was known for his generous spirit and loving heart. He had an enduring passion for cars, particularly his 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1, which was his pride and joy. His love for animals was evident in the numerous cats and dogs that were part of their family over the years.
In his free time, Carl enjoyed partaking in various activities. He had a special fondness for movies, particularly westerns or history documentaries, and loved going to the movies whenever he could. He delighted in sharing stories from the past and was known for his sense of humor and vibrant personality.
He was the life of the party, often bringing laughter and joy with his jokes and memorable party trick of doing a one-legged squat. His various sayings, like “loose lips sink ships,” were part of his charm and wisdom. Carl also enjoyed playing card games like poker and hand and foot with his family.
Carl H. Schneider leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and lasting memories. His heart of gold, enduring spirit, and unwavering support for those he cared about will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Carl is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Margaret Schneider; his sons Gerald (Benita) Schneider,
Thomas (Janet Eagan) Schneider, Mark (Teresa) Schneider, and Carl (Keith Schalk) Schneider; his grandchildren Stephanie Schneider, Lauren (Kyle) Lachowicz, Jaclyn Schneider, Tamara Schneider, Melissa (Moses) Ortega, Dylan (Clare) Schneider, Trish (Jason) James, Jessica (David) Schneider, Kelly Schalk, and Lauren Schalk; his great-grandchildren Cole, baby Lachowicz, Donald, Dimirti, Kaden, Beckham, Naomi, Abel, Cierra, Devon, Anyah, and Annalisa; and his sister Ellen (James) Fox. Preceded in death by parents Carl Emil and Johanna Schneider, and siblings Werner (Mardelle) Schneider, and Linda Schneider.
Per Carl’s wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
