John Andrew Reuter

John Andrew “Root” Reuter, 71, of Waldorf passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata. Born in Tampa, FL, he has been a Waldorf resident for 41 years.

He was a graduate of Oxon Hill High School – Class of 1969. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1974 where he served for 4 years. He was also a graduate of Towson State University – Class of 1981 where he earned his bachelor’s of science in Business Administration.

John is fondly remembered by the community for his time working with the United States Postal Service for 25+ years, where he retired.

John was caring and dedicated to his sons and grandchildren.

Predeceased by his mother, Nickolena (Rota) Reuter, father, Paul Reuter, and sister, Paula Kassolis. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janice (Fenn) Reuter; 2 sons, Paul “Jamie” and fiancée Kristen Houser, and Jesse and wife Michelle; 4 grandchildren, Jameson, Cora, Brooke and Theodore; 3 siblings, Nicholas Reuter, Robert Reuter and Teresa Crue; also, many nieces and nephews.

The viewing will be held on August 9th, 1PM to 3PM and 5PM to 7PM at Huntt Funeral Home, 3035 Old Washington Rd, Waldorf, MD. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated on August 10th at 10AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 3320 St Peters Dr, Waldorf, MD. Repast to follow at Good Shephard United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Stroke Association or the Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland, Inc.
