Janet Louise Cavanaugh

Janet Louise Cavanaugh, age 67, of Waldorf, Maryland passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at The Charleston Senior Community in Waldorf, Maryland. She was born on January 30, 1957, in Prince Georges County Maryland to Robert E. and Marilyn J. (Dunlap) Hughes. She graduated from Oxon Hill High School in 1975 and later earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. She worked 30+ years as a federal employee serving the Defense Intelligence Agency in multiple locations around the world as a mission support specialist.

Janet loved watching performing arts, traveling, bowling, spending time with her grandkids, cooking, baking cookies at church, casinos, and playing bingo.

She is survived by her children, Amie Cavanaugh of Jacksonville, FL, Scott and his wife Domonique of Mechanicsville, MD, her grandsons Chase, Camryn, and Cullen, her brother Mike Hughes of Charlotte Hall, MD, her nephews Michael and Robbie Hughes, and her Uncle Larry and his wife Alice Dunlap of Aberdeen, WA.

There will be a celebration of life with friends and family on August 23, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Waldorf Senior and Recreational Center located at 90 Post Office Road, Waldorf, MD 20602.
