James Edward Munsey

James Edward “Eddie” Munsey, age 89, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2023, due to natural causes. He was born June 8, 1934, in Montcalm, West Virginia, to Charles Boyd and Minnie Florence Munsey. He married Greta Munsey in June 1987, who preceded him in death in 2012.

James enjoyed gardening, tending to his flowers, working on projects around the house, and hosting cookouts during the summer. He loved spending time with his family including his grandchildren and great grandchild.. He also loved his little dog, Gidget.

He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958 as a fuel and electrical system repairman. For many years, he worked with the US Department of Defense as a contract specialist, retiring in 1987, and later working as a defense contractor as an industrial specialist.

James is survived by his sister Nelle Ely of Bridgton, Maine; his four children, James “Pete” Munsey (Jan Anderson), Julie Clapp (George Clapp), Judy Garrison (Tommy Garrison), and Jamie Jones; grandchildren, Katelyn Garrison, Mackenzie Garrison, Sara Clapp, Jordan Clapp, and Rebecca Clapp; and great grandchild, Elijah Brewer. He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his sisters Christine Perry, Ella Rose French, and brothers, Charles Boyd Munsey Jr., Norwood Munsey, Billy Munsey, and Virgil Munsey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Huntt Funeral Home, 3035 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, MD, on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 11:00am, followed by a brief ceremony at the Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD.
